Mass and thermal accommodation during gas-liquid condensation of water

Abstrakt

The direct and simultaneous determination, of mass and thermal accommodation coefficients for water vapor condensation in air, is discussed. The determination is based on the observation of droplet growth kinetics in an expansion cloud chamber. The equations for mass fluxes and heat fluxes are coupled along with the droplet temperature, to calculate the mass flux. The results show that the cloud droplet nucleation and growth rates are relatively insensitive to variations in am above 0.5.
